Monotones takes on a new name. The Monotones, a social group for lesbian and
gay couples in Cleveland, has changed its name to Cleveland Couples Together. The name change was brought about by members who felt that the old name did not adequately describe the function of the group.
The Monotones, which received the Chronicle's 1993 Mixed Group of the Year Award, was formed in 1986 by four couples who desired to meet with other couples to share in their common interest of a growing, monogamous relationship. Over the years, the group grew to over 30 couples.
Thanks to the annual Monotones Hayride [October 30 this year], the group has been very proud to give financial assistance to many gay and lesbian causes in the area, such as the Lesbian-Gay Community Center, Pride celebrations, and the Living Room.
If you are interested in joining Cleveland Couples Together, call them at 734-7980 or write to them at P.O. Box 771102, Lakewood, OH 44107-0047.
